Caligula: The Ultimate Cut stars Malcolm McDowell as the Roman Emperor Caligula. The film chronicles his time as emperor and is a re-edited version of the 1979 film which went over budget and was funded by the founder of Penthouse magazine. This film is very good and worth seeing when you can. Although some of the editing is a little wonky and it has some pacing problems. The film features excellent performances from Malcolm McDowell, Helen Mirren, and Peter O'Toole as Emperor Tiberius.
It is still crude and sometimes graphic and hard to watch but the performances alone are worth recommending and watching a forgotten quasi-masterpiece.
