Sonic the Hedgehog 3 is a sequel to Sonic the Hedgehog (2020) and Sonic the Hedgehog 2 (2022) and stars Ben Schwartz, Keanu Reeves, James Marsden, Idris Elba, Colleen O'Shaughnessey, and Jim Carrey. The film introduces us to Shadow the Hedgehog who is out for revenge after past tragedies and being frozen in stasis for 50 years.
The Sonic film franchise has always had a fantastic blend of action, heart, and comedy but this film takes it to the next level. It is by far the best Sonic film and the third act provides some fantastic action sequences and visuals.
It also has real emotional moments, especially with a focus on Shadow who is another fantastic addition to the franchise. James Marsden is the perfect father figure to Team Sonic, Idris Elba's Knuckles is hilarious and Colleen O'Shaughnessey Tails provides the same heart and wit to the character as she does in the games.
Ben Schwartz is quippy and fun as Sonic but knows when its time to get serious a fantastic performance with him and Keanu Reeves Shadow having some fantastic fight scenes. The film has a clear message and also sets up a fourth film that does not feel forced but instead a necessary addition to an ever-improving franchise that like Sonic shows no signs of slowing down.
