Snow White Review

Snow White is directed by Marc Webb and stars Rachel Zegler as the titular character, and Gal Gadot as the Evil Queen. This reimagining of the classic tale brings a fresh modern energy to the story, with some mixed results.

I liked the new characters—specifically Johnathan, played by Andrew Burnap, who brought charm and wit to the screen. His character feels like an entertaining, updated version of the traditional love interest, and his dynamic with Snow White adds a light-hearted touch that works well in this context.

However, the CGI for the dwarves is unfortunately a low point. Their animation feels awkward and distracts from the emotional core of the film. In trying to modernize and reframe the dwarves, the film sacrifices the warmth and personality that made the original group so memorable.

While the intention behind the added content is clear—to broaden the themes and offer more depth—much of it feels unnecessary and detracts from the simplicity that made the original so enduring. Some new scenes drag the pacing, and others don’t land emotionally the way they’re meant to.

Still, there are some nice moments, and younger audiences may enjoy the updated songs and colorful visuals. For a night out with the family, Snow White is worth seeing at a drive-in near you—but others may want to wait until it hits streaming.
