About The Drive-in at Carraway Village
The Drive-in at Carraway Village was a single screen drive-in movie theater located in Chapel Hill, NC. The drive-in was fairly new as it was just opened in October 2020 in response to Covid-19 restrictions which closed indoor theaters. Northwood Ravin, an apartment management company that owns Carraway Village, partnered with the organizers of local film festival Film Fest 919 to construct the theater in response to the coronavirus pandemic. However, in July of 2022, the operator of the drive-in said that construction at the apartments next door to the drive-in was starting to take over the lot on which the drive-in sites. Originally fitting 100 cars when opened, the now smaller lot only holds 50 cars and that is jam packed. So the owner said he felt it best to close the drive-in for the safety of his employees and customers. When opened, the Drive-in at Carraway Village was open year round showing both classic movies and first run movies. Tickets were $13 for adults and $11 for kids and must be purchased in advance, online and cannot be purchased at the actual theater. Outside food was not allowed. Movie audio was provided via FM broadcast on channel 91.1 FM. Pets were allowed as long as they were leashed and well behaved.
