About Hounds Drive-in
The Hounds Drive-in was a three screen drive-in movie theater located in Kings Mountain, North Carolina. The Hounds Drive-in was built from the ground up and opened in 2016. Originally opened as a single screen drive-in, Hounds Drive-in added a second screen in March of 2018 to become a twin screen drive-in and then a third screen in 2020 to become a three screen drive-in. The owners, who also own and operate a campsite called Hounds Campground right next to the drive-in, saw the need for the new drive-in when the only other drive-in in the area closed back in 2015. However, in February of 2022, the Hounds drive-in was sold to a lithium mining company which plans to mine the land that the Hounds Drive-in sits on. At the time, the drive-in had until 2026 to vacate the land and the owner of the Hounds Drive-in said he intended to operate the drive-in until then. However, in February of 2023, the owner announced he was closing the Hounds Drive-in permanently.
