About Goochland Drive-in Theater
The Goochland Drive-in Theater is a relative newcomer to the industry. It was opened in 2009 by John Heidel because he felt that taking his small children to the movie theater was both an inconvenience and too expensive. The Goochland Drive-in is actually located in Hadensville, VA. Up until April of 2018, it had a single large screen (80' x 40') with digital projection and showed double features seasonally between late March and early October. But in April of 2018, the Goochland Drive-in added a second smaller screen. The second screen is unique in that they have space for parking cars as well as a grass area for sitting in chairs or on blankets. This area is going to be called The Grove and is completely covered in grass with in-ground speakers for audio (a first of which we are aware). The Goochland allows pets as long as they are leashed and well behaved. But they do not allow any outside food or alcohol so plan to visit their concession stand which is very reasonably priced and now includes a gluten-free menu. While at the concession stand, try the Gooch Dog which is a hot dog topped with macaroni and cheese and a special sauce. The Goochland Drive-in also has a playground for children.
