DriveInMovie.com was established in 1998 as a resource to celebrate, promote and preserve drive-in movie theaters across the globe. We maintain an easily searchable database of all currently operating drive-in theaters in the world, as well as many of the recently closed drive-in movie theaters. The information in our database is gathered through online research, drive-in theater site visits, user generated updates and contact with drive-in theater owners. Our goal is to maintain the most up to date drive-in theater directory available.
DriveInMovie.com was started by, and is still operated by, die-hard drive-in fanatics who love everything that drive-in theaters have to offer. We at DriveInMovie.com want to share our love of drive-in theaters with the public and do everything we can to increase the popularity of drive-ins in an attempt to preserve this once thriving form of family entertainment. Drive-in movie theaters still offer a unique social and family friendly entertainment option that simply cannot be matched by today’s indoor cinemas.
There are currently only about 330 drive-in theaters that remain in operation in the United States compared to a peak of about 4,000 in the late 1950’s. There are many reasons for the decline of the number of drive-in theaters. But one thing is certain – we must support remaining drive-ins to prevent their closure to maintain this truly unique experience that is an American as homemade apple pie. To that end, we hope you find our site useful and share it with your friends and family.
